Visionary Leadership for a Decarbonized Future: Carlos Gonzalez Joins Cespira as President and CEO

Cespira, the pioneering joint venture between the Volvo Group and Westport Fuel Systems, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Carlos Gonzalez as its new President and CEO, effective April 1, 2025. This marks a bold step forward in our mission to transform heavy-duty transportation with sustainable, cutting-edge solutions.

Carlos Gonzalez takes the helm from Dan Sceli, who has expertly guided Cespira as interim President since our founding in June 2024. Dan’s leadership laid the foundation for our innovative journey, and we are grateful that his insights and expertise will continue to shape Cespira’s future as a member of the Board of Directors.

With over 24 years of leadership experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries, Carlos Gonzalez is a seasoned visionary. His career spans transformative roles at ZF Group, where he recently served as Vice President and Global Key Account Executive for the TRATON Group, as well as impactful tenures at General Dynamics ELS, Continental AG, and Lear Corporation. His track record of driving innovation, building partnerships, and advancing sustainability makes him the ideal leader to steer Cespira into the future.

Carlos holds engineering degrees from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain) and the Universidad Europea de Madrid (Madrid, Spain) and Executive training from Duke University (MBA), Insead Business School (HILP) and IESE Business School (PADE).
