“The biggest advantage [of gas powered trucks] is that they are 100 percent fossil-free and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90 percent. And they are economical to own. They are quieter and they show that it is possible to adjust. All types of transport can be carried out with LBG Trucks.”
Erik Alfredsson, CEO of Alfredsson Transport
ALFREDSSON TRANSPORT
Based in Norrköping, Sweden, Alfredsson Transport is a family-owned business with approximately 50 trucks, almost half of which are powered by liquid biogas (LBG). Alfredsson has been running Volvo HPDI-equipped trucks since 2018 and will continue to add more to its fleet as an important part of its sustainability initiatives. The company is proud to claim itself as one of Sweden’s most environmentally-friendly transport companies with plans to be completely fossil-free by 2025.
At Asda we like to think big, start small and scale fast – and that’s precisely what we’ve accomplished with this move to biomethane.”

ASDA
Founded in the 1960s in Yorkshire, Asda is one of Britain’s leading retailers with an expansive network of supermarkets and petrol filling stations across the UK. With the largest alternative-fuel fleet in the UK consisting of all Volvo HPDI-equipped tractors, the supermarket has ambitions to transition its core fleet of just over 980 tractor units from diesel to gas by the end of 2024.
“Having tractors powered by LNG when it’s so abundant here in Alberta, it’s exciting to manage those costs. But of course, there’s a bigger benefit of decarbonizing our fleet and also minimizing our carbon footprint.”
Jim Dimech, Director of Transportation, Linde Canada Inc.
